Tutor Spotlight on…

Reuben W.

As a son of a High School teacher, Reuben developed an early love of education. He began tutoring while attending La Jolla Country Day School. He quickly found that as a tutor, he was able to help students make the transition from dreading schoolwork to embracing the challenge. During Reuben’s college years at the University of California, Los Angeles, he saw tutoring as a means to give back to the less fortunate. He joined the Watts Tutorial Program where he tutored underprivileged children from the inner city.

Since graduating from UCLA in the Fall of 2012, he has continued working as a legal assistant and as a tutor. He loves tutoring because it gives him the privilege of helping a student grow academically. He derives tremendous satisfaction from seeing a student thrive in a classroom. Reuben’s favorite moments are when he sees a student master a concept that was previously a challenge.
